Shoe Giveaway
After visiting St. Lawrence Place with a friend, the children received a surprise visit from coach Dawn Staley. This inspired me to start my charity to give back, and my co-workers, friends, and family found out and wanted to help. For the first 4 years, we gave the shoes directly to Coach Staley until some friends and family suggested that we give them to kids from a school in a low-economic city or town.
By the fifth year of our program, we gave 486 pairs of new shoes to Glendale Elementary School in Aiken County. In 2018, we gave more than 400 pairs to Allendale-Fairfax Middle School in Allendale, SC, and in 2019, we gave 529 pairs to Easterling Primary School in Marion, SC. There are over 40 friends and family who unselfishly give pairs of shoes every year to help these children and their families, and I am grateful to them for supporting our cause.
